The last time BNL were in Brighton Blam Tour 2007 they sold live shows downloads but they don't seem to be doing it this year.
I think that it's a shame this was somthing I hoped would catch on and you could have a collect of all the gigs of your fav. bands.
Does anybody know if they will do this at the tours end or is this a thing of the past?

It is a thing of the past ( for now) I heard they were going to bring it back but for now it's a thing of the past which kinda stinks you have to go old school if you want shows by recording it with your phone or camera.

I am pretty confident that it will resurface. I think this tour the guys are regrouping and re-finding their sound as a foursome, so they're reluctant to jump right in and offer the downloads just yet. I have heard that they have been recording some of the shows, though, so I wouldn't count out the summer tour remaining unavailable forever. :)

Ed said they are being recorded and would 'eventually' be made available on the UK tour.

:D Good Now hopefully they will " eventually" be ready by the time they do their US fall tour.

I thought it was a way of cutting costs - it can't be cheap to haul the equipment and make the recordings.

Good point.... I mean they are BNL 2.0 ( okay not really but you get my point) Probably back when Steven was in the band they made more money touring arenas, etc and now they are smaller they are working their way back. Baby steps....

As I understand it, it's simply about permissions and costs attached to releasing the material. The venues have control over recordings made at gigs, but from what Ed has said, it seems all were recorded and WILL be available as soon as they've worked through the red tape.

Does anyone in the USA know how strict they're being about bringing recording equipment into the venues? I have a pocket audio recorder that would capture the show very nicely, but I don't want to end up with it taken off of me!

I know the band has been very good about it in the past (hence the success of KingJeff way back in the day), but with the new label I'm not sure if they have to be more strict than in the past. Any advice would be appreciated!

It always the venue, not the label. So, it really depends on the security people at each venue, which can vary widely.

Plus... people like Jeff are exceptionally skilled at keeping that stuff utterly hidden. I highly doubt ANY security monkey ever had any clue that Jeff was packing. :D

Nice to talk to you again, Suebee! :D Is Jeff still around by any chance? Granted I know he's no longer releasing material since the band has started recording at the board, but is he active in the community?

Well, a bunch of us are Facebook friends with him... with barenaked.net currently down, I haven't seen him online much other than FB.

The rumors of my not being around have been greatly exaggerated
