Well, by what Ed's new blog said, I'm sure hoping for a new single! I hope it's Summertime! Here's the full blog post:
Sleigh Bells ring... Are you listening??!!!

We're actually getting a light dusting of snow here in Toronto as we prepare for the arrival of the man in the red suit. It may not be a Green Christmas after all, as much as I love the song... That's about envy though. It'll be our first Christmas in the new house, which we're all looking forward to. Then we're going to take off to Vermont on Boxing day (The day when all Canadians rejoice in the pugilist arts). It's become a tradition for our clan to head for the Vermont hills, and spend a little time in the snow with our pals at Okemo, near Ludlow, VT. Who knows... I may even bring a guitar (Hint hint... possible solo show). I want to thank everybody who caught up with us on the December run. It was our first real tour as a four piece, and it felt great. The response was fantastic, and it's making us look forward to getting out there for real. So, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year everybody. If all goes according to our diabolical plan, you'll start hearing the first single on your local radio station sometime in January. Record will follow in March. We'll be doing a bunch of dates around the launch with proper touring (I mean old school, crazy BnL touring) to follow. I look forward to seeing you all in the new year... or perhaps on the slopes over the X-Mas break??!! May you all squeak on to the nice list... I'm awaiting a video reply for the official decision.

Skipping, jumping, screaming, and big grins were had when I read that blog post. :D I honestly don't care what song they do release as a single, it'll be great to listen to whatever they put out!

I can hope but the chances of new BNL getting airplay in Tampa is pretty slim.

I'm just excited that we're so close to - officially - getting the new stuff! I plan to make requests to XM/Sirius. Repeatedly. :D Our local radio stations are a joke. I don't bother with them.

Same goes with being out in Colorado. I've been their 4 months and I've heard one song - It's All Been Done.

When they release BLAM our local LA stations played a lot more of the old stuff like One Week. I don't listen to the radio much so perhaps there was a station that picked up the new stuff, but not that I came across.

Anyone know what station I can listen to out of New York to hear the new song? All I seem to get is hip hop and oldies and crap. Radio really has gone down hill fast.

Nope, you know how it is out here. Turn on Star, and it's 30 second to mars. Turn on KROQ, and it's either Sublime or Red Hot Chili Peppers. Of course we'll never hear them on KIIS, KBIG, or KLOS.
You're not missing much by not listening to the radio often.

SOBAY I might if I got to hear new stuff. Over my many years I have found all kinds of new bands through radio listening, but not in years now. It is sad really.

Same here. Lately I've found new music by openers of shows I go to and last.fm.

As am I! So excited!
I have a dissertation, essentially, that I wrote about why I feel "Four Seconds" would be a first great single, but I won't bore ANYONE with that spiel.
Four Seconds is so fun, it really deserves to see the light of popularity.

Same here - I very much like the idea. :) Oh well, "You Run Away" it is - maybe "Four Seconds" or "Summertime" could be the 2nd single.

Can you post it somewhere? Put a fake name like Father Beard to it and tell everyone that you "found" a link to this interesting essay. :D

I wish you'd posted this BEFORE they released "You Run Away". But Ed probably sings "Four Seconds" anyway, so I'd still be disappointed.

You know, I have to be honest. I was hoping for "Summertime" to be the first single because I just love the riff between the verses. It sounds like it would sound really good coming out of a radio (woops! kinda dated myself there...does anybody listen to radios anymore?).
However, I listened to "You Run Away" for the first time, second time, on and on. What amazes me is Ed taking his voice to a whole new level in the first few seconds of the song. It reminds me of Roy Orbison. Then the rest of the song follows and has this nice, gradual dramatic build up. I liked the song fine enough at the shows I went to, but to hear the studio version...wow!
Not to pigeon hole it, but hopefully, adult contemporary stations will be picking this up, because it sounds like something right up their playlist.
All in all, a great first step. :)

Michael from San Dimas stole my post! ;)
Seriously though, even though I've heard and loved this song live a number of times, the mix took it to a whole new level. It makes me even more excited for hearing the rest of the album!

Ya just can't trust that guy. Boy, I can't even tell you the number of times I was trying to figure out how to say something and then I find that he's posted what I wanted to say, only he's said it wittier and classier and with more insight than I could have.

Ed Orbison.
Sorry, I just said that name aloud, laughed at the near rhyme, and then wanted to share. (It's been a slow night.)
Wasn't knocked out by the song at first, but a couple of listens and I've really started to get into it.

That's the long lost English major wannabe in me....type...edit...type....edit. ;)
I was watching one of the interviews and remembering Ed's comment about directly addressing his feelings and you can really feel that in this song.
It's official. I can't get through the day without hearing the song at least a half a dozen times.
Next up, completely learning the lyrics to "4 minutes"! :)

I was trying that a few weeks back and gave up (for now). That's a lot of words very fast. I'm sure I'll get it when the album is released and I have to listen to it on repeat for a couple of days.
P.S. 4 seconds

Hypo's already done the heavy lifting! (Although there's still some debate about specific lyrics) :)
