I heard of version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman without Sarah McLachlan and was wondering if anyone could tell me when/where it was recorded and if it is available for purchase on any album. In it they converse about the scary part of the song.
Thanks for any help, -J

For sale, no... but I have it, so I must have downloaded it from somewhere. I'd check http://www.bnlhttp.com/ -- there's a good chance it would be there.

Thanks for the help Suebee42 and anyone else who can help me identify this file...

There are only two "studio" recordings of the song that I'm aware of. The Sarah version (1997), and an early 90s fan club xmas cassette version that includes the Creeggan verse. Jeff, I think, ripped this and posted it some time and it's probably on bnlhttp. I don't know of any other more "modern" (non-4-track) studio version.
I know of other studio version. The version you refer to seems to be a live version that I too have (4:23?). It's pretty certainly a live version, and the file I have says "1994, CFNY XMas Party Toronto" in the tag info. I don't believe it's anything you could now or could ever have purchased. It was likely recorded off the radio.
However, it is similar to xmas tape version if you like that version, you might want to download it.

I looked my copy up (listening to it now to verify that it has the "scary verse" as I type), and I have it labeled as "CFNY Xmas Party 12/23/94."
"Which brings us... to the scariest verse of the song..." LOL! Yep, that's it. ;)
"I love that band... Stone Cold Tombs..." :D

Thanks for the help TheHYPO and Suebee42, I'm adding this to Christmas Collection as I like the scary version much better. I'm posting another thread for the next song I would like to identify if you have any info on it... -jmfsms

O.K. to the best of knowledge here is what I found out... The song comes from an FM Broadcast that was on CFNY-FM as the 1994 XMAS Party.
The complete listing of 9 audio tracks from the show can be downloaded from bnlhttp.com and is located in the /Random/Radio & Interviews/CFNY Studios Toronto, ON 12-23-94 folder.
I am still looking for any photo's of the event.
Thanks again for everyone's help and please let me know if my info is wrong.
