Seeing 5 BNL shows in 11 days wasn't enough. While on a short break in San Francisco we also attended a sold out Ok Go concert at the Fillmore. Not bad, but needed more confetti.
And now that we're breaking through to SUMMERTIME, here are non-BNL events we're planning on attending when not following the Ladies:
The Nerdist & Craig Ferguson, Coronet @ Largo, 6/10
The Benson Interruption, Coronet @ Largo, 6/14
Grease Sing-a-long, Hollywood Bowl, 6/25
Carbon Leaf, Troubadour, 7/7
Ben Taylor w/Katie Herzig, Coronet @ Largo, 7/20
Band of Horses, Greek Theatre, 7/25
Patton Oswalt & Friends, Coronet@ Largo, 7/31
Outside Lands, SF Golden Gate Park 8/14-15
Dave Matthews Band, Hollywood Bowl, 8/23
Gaelic Storm, Troubadour, 10/16
What's everyone else up to?

Hmmm.... with two kids, I'll be doing lots of swimming in a little pool, and saving up for the next time BNL are in town :P
I think we're squeezing two camping trips in there. Alright, and my DH has convinced me to take the girls to a pre-season Bills game.
Amicustoall, I've always wanted to see Train. Hope it's a great show!

Hey, Soul Sister, when/where are you seeing Train?
Was anyone at the Alcatraz concert when Train opened for BNL? Wish I could've been!

* Hockey Fest feat. Marianas Trench, the Trews & Our Lady Peace (I'm really stoked as I love all these acts!)
* Thin Buckle (even though that's Kevin's stuff... so I don't think that counts?)
* Soda Pop tour feat. Emily Osment, Jesse Labelle, the New Cities
* The Maine
* Something Corporate
* Hedley
... I think that's all I know of that I'm going to right now.

Are you serious??? That would be my dream concert duo! Ack! Alas, I'm no where near Alcatraz, though. :P (And I know, I shouldn't complain because I live only a hour from Toronto.)

Well, Naughty By Nature came over here on a USO tour, but I didn't go.
I'm running a half-marathon at WDW in Oct. It's the only thing on my schedule. That and coming home from Africa. :)

Oooh give Chris a big sloppy kiss from me. LOL! I have such a girly nerd-crush on him. :D
We were going to see GBS at Artpark next month, but with S&D4, it's just not working out. Hopefully they'll come to Rochester in the fall, since a new album is coming out.

Ooh, is that the new race, the one that replaced Race for the Taste or whatever it was called? Good luck! I'm skipping that one but will be attempting (eek) to do the full WDW marathon in January. It'll be my first; I've done the last 3 (Jan.) WDW half-marathons but never a full. Last year, it was sleeting and people were running in Snuggies for the half. Good times!
As for me, I saw Them Crooked Vultures at the Murat in Indianapolis in the middle of May, and the only other thing (apart from BNL in Tampa on 06/26) is probably Against Me! in St. Louis toward the end of July. Should be cool.

Yes, it replaces Race for the Taste 10K and the Tower of Terror 13K, both of which I ran last year. I would like to do the full as well as the Expedition Everest, at some point. :)

We'll do! A big, wet, tonguey, sloppy, nerdy kiss as I scream 'My name is Suebee and I just LOOOOOVE you!' :D :D :D
I almost got a little snarky with him as he blocked my way at a bar a few weeks back - Don't get between me and alcohol, Hardwick, I'll break you like a toothpick.
New GBS! AWESOME! Gaelic Storm's new album is due out soon and a free download of their next single can be found here:

LOL! Yeah, he's not really a contender in the "brute strength" department. Then again, most self-proclaimed nerds aren't. ;)

The great thing about working in the public schools-10 weeks off :D- the bad thing-teacher's salary :(...so I have the time but not the means...All the upcoming BNL shows are in a 10 hour window for me- but I am having trouble w/vision in L eye, so not driving until after surgery.:( Maybe I can pull something off toward the end of Summer. But hey, this time last year, I was in hospital and didn't think I would ever make it to or through another Ladies show (or anything else, for that matter) again--have to try to stay positive:)

So does it count if I don't actually have tickets? I'm taking a summer class at college and my classroom actually overlooks & overhears CMAC. I'll be in class for Phish, Jethro Tull, & Zac Brown Band. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will be performing July 6th when I'm in class, but I'm actually hoping to get tickets to that one.
I'll also be seeing Rusted Root, Merle Haggard, John Brown's Body, Railroad Earth, Mountain Heart, Sim Redmond Band, Makepeace Brothers, Burning Spear, Dead Sea Squirrels, The Chicken Chokers, and about 30 others over the course of 4 days in July.

Thoroughly impressed with the diverse tastes in music here. I wish I was going to more shows but I will be seeing Squeeze ( my favorite band back in the day) and opening for them will be Cheap Trick at Radio City. Should be a hoot! There's Dave Matthews and the Zac Brown band at Citifield right after that and of course, The Ladies will be at Radio City and I will be (sort of) front and center. I'll be hitting the road to Chicago then to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore for some baseball fun with the fam as well as finally getting to check out the new Yankee Stadium. Add to that a week out on the east end of Long Island and I think I have myself a summer!
Jane, if you haven't seen Jonny Lang yet, get ready. He will blow you away. We love him :)
Everyone be safe!!

Oh. Crowded House!!! I am so jealous. My dearly departed dad used to love to antagonize me by delibrately getting the names of my favorite bands wrong. He called Crowded House, "Busy Family" and if he were around today, he would ask me if I was still listening to those "Semi-clad Women"? and I would have to say ABSOLUTELY!:)

Wow, Kate- amazing timing! I was just going to post that...
Really, really fun show. You need to go in totally prepared for a hippie dippie experience, because that's what you're going to get: 8 guys, 2 women, and a small child (for real) all on stage singing, dancing, playing various instruments, singing hippie songs for an hour and a half. Most likely, some psychadelic enhancements have been worked in to both the band members and a lot of the audience, as well.
Probably a bit Rusted Root-esque, but not a Phish or Grateful Dead vibe- the whole atmosphere and similar crowd, but no 20 minute extended jams.
One very cool moment: the lead singer Alex (there is no "Edward Sharpe") was asking the crowd if the band had ever been to Cleveland before and the crowd started shouting that yeah, they'd been at Oberlin College (of course they played at Oberlin)...then Alex pointed to a kid in the crowd of about a thousand people and said "hey, I recognize you- you brought me the jug of wine when we were here last time!" and the kid started nodding, obviously totally excited that this guy remembered it. Very cool.

Seeing Gaelic Storm again on August 18th at Big Top Chautauqua (our favorite venue). Only downside is you never get to go out drinking with them there, since they won't go anywhere that's more than a block or so from the venue, and Big Top is waaaaay out in the boonies.

Just saw that Steve Page is playing at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston 4 days before BNL. Kind of pissed because the tickets will end up coming out to $89889898989 like every other show there, but I might end up going.
Also, of Montreal is playing at the Higher Ground in Burlington, VT. Tickets for that are only $20, so I might also get to that.

Saw The New Pornographers in Brooklyn, NY a couple of weeks back -- awesome, awesome show.
Heading to Toronto on Thursday to see Selina Martin (http://www.myspace.com/selinamartin) and then off to Ottawa for the second week of Bluesfest (http://www.ottawabluesfest.ca/)... that will be most of my show-going for the summer (save for 2 BNL shows in August ;) ).
Trying to save for a house, so the concert budget has been cut way back. :)
I'm off to see Joel Plaskett tonight in a venue that holds about 30 people. It's also only £4 to get in and 10 minutes away from my flat. Should be a good night! :)

We are going to Great Big Sea in Ottawa next week and then again in Burlington VT in September. Unfortunately, Carbon Leaf and Gaelic Storm have not announced any shows within a drivable distance to Montreal for now. Still hoping they will.;)

DOA, that is an interesting combination I think. I like YES more than Frampton, although I like him too. I hope it rocks. It was one of the many concerts that we passed on this year so we can cruise.
I just wrote a review of last night's Joel Plaskett gig if anyone wants to have a read: www.bnluk.net

That was a VERY interesting combination. They BOTH sincerely and completely rocked and the venue just keeps getting better and better. It was more like going to two different concerts in the same night. It was odd that the bathroom lines were completely reversed as these two acts drew about 3 or 4 times as many men as women.
It was funny to know going in that I would be right back there in a few nights for BNL. That show is going to be SO great at that stage. The acoustics are truly the best I've ever heard in an outdoor venue and the open air and winery experience just gets you in the best mood for a show. I highly recommend anyone that is visting the Bay Area to see a show there, regardless of who the act is.

DOA that is very cool. I would really like to see Yes someday. I am glad it was a good time, and if we ever get up there we will have to check out the venue, sounds like our cup of tea.

Okay, Frannie, so now we expect to see you jumping in more on boards, chiming in about which songs speak to you, when you first discovered them, fave lyrics, fave songs, fave outfits - wait, we don't have a fave outfits thread, do we? Oh my! Guess we need to start THAT debate right now!

Cynful ~ I don't know how to piggyback on your post...I'm new as of today and two posts... BNL is my husband's (of a little over a year) favorite band. I bought row 4 / middle seats for our anniversary. He gave me a CD of their greatest hits so I could become aquainted with them. I'm hard of hearing...so I read a lot of the lyrics and then listened to the CD. I'll have to get back to you on what I like the most, from what I know. I will say that the CD sounded amazing after seeing them in concert!! I would like to get to know their new music since I read about Steve leaving and them regrouping and writing new songs.
