Whats your least favorite album? For me it's Maroon. I think it's far to Steve-heavy (being much more of an Ed fan) and I think a majority of the songs are just boring. It does, however have some great songs: "Falling For The First Time", "Pinch Me", "Too Little Too Late", "TITNIFAATW", and "Hidden Sun".

This is tough. I like several songs off of every album. I have never listened to Snacktime, so I can't include that one. I've gotta say BLAMen. I just started a thread on that cd the other day and there are some really great songs, but if I have to choose, that's on the bottom.

My top 5 (favorites) would go something like this:
BOAPS
Maroon
E2E
Gordon
AIGT

Maroon is my absolute all time favorite. I love the second half of it especially Humour through Asleep at the Wheel is just killer. Anyway...least favorite album....hmm...I've gotta say Maybe You Should Drive. There are only a handful of songs on that one that I HAVE to listen to. Those include Jane, Intermittently, Alt Girlfriend, and Am I the Only One?. However, I love These Apples and Life, in a Nutshell, but I feel the execution/energy is just so much better on Rock Spectacle

I'm confused: MYSD is your least favorite album but you love and/or "have to listen to" six of the songs on the album?

I can understand that. I listed my least favorite as BLAMen, but there are 6 songs on there that I have listened to several times during every single day since I started listening to the album. It's hard to pick a "least favorite" when every cd is good.

BLAMe and BLAMen are the worst albums for me too. They are just so boring and so much filler.

I think I have a three way tie between E2E, BLAM and BLAMen. As far as albums on a whole none of them really rocked my world from start to finish. If I could take all three and put my favourite songs off of them on to one album I'd be a happy camper...in fact, maybe I'll do that.:D

Hi Darcey, I'm curious, what are your reasons for not liking E2E? I used to hate that album but now I like it alot more. I'm just wondering if you disliked it for the same reasons I did.

It just didn't..."flow" for me. There are songs I like...but it's just not one of those albums I can sit and listen to straight through. Plus, Another Postcard makes me want to bash my head against the wall.

I think I will interpret this thread as "Album you listen to least often". For me, it's BOAPS. That's only because I forget about it, it's not that I don't like it -- there are lots of great ones on there!

I think there are three that are always in heavy rotation for me: Stunt, BLAMe, and AIGT. I'm not couting Snacktime because it's the official CD of the van because that's where the kids ride. (So it gets listened to everyday...)

My least favourite I think would have to be BOAPS. There's some awesome songs on it, I just in fact find myself skipping the songs I don't really like more times then not.

I'd have to say BLAMen. Maybe I was just overwhelmed with the amount of work they put out in the BLAM-era and didn't give it a chance.

Ah yeah...Snacktime. Yeah, I never listen to that...unless I've had a few too many Molson's....

Yes, Another Postcard is a horrible song.

tv, I'm personally of the opinion that you can say whatever the hell you want, and I believe you've made some fair points along the way as well.

Having said that, what percentage of your posts do you think ending up irritating people or stirring things up? 90%? 95%? And it's too late to say you're not doing it intentionally, because there's no doubt you've realized by now what you're doing.

I'm sure you'll run to the "innocent corner" and express sincere disbelief that I would question your motives, but to quote someone on here: it's not opinion, it's reality.

You can believe whatever you want to. If you read all my posts, you would know that I am definitely a big fan. I stated quite clearly that I think every album from Gordon all the way to Maroon are classic's. Then starting with E2E onwards, I felt the band's music wasn't as good as it used to be. There's lots of other fans out there that feel the same way.

I backed up all of my criticism and I've made a lot of positive feedback along the way too. This is a forum and it's meant for us to discuss things that are both good AND bad. This isn't just some place to kiss ass, constructive criticism is allowed here. Also, I KNOW the band appreciates constructive criticism espically since Tyler posted on Barenaked.net thanking the fans there for being so honest about their disapproval of the new ticket system. So I'm not really not sure what it is you want me to do.

Right, well if your argument is that you are giving constructive criticism of the band, lets see some of your last few posts:

Yes, Another Postcard is a horrible song.

Kevin can't sing in tune and he doesn't have charisma on stage to be a lead singer

BLAMe and BLAMen are the worst albums for me too. They are just so boring and so much filler.

Explain how the hell any of this is 'constructive' and then we can go from there.

Liam

By the way, I know you have posts OTHER than those that I quoted, which are more positive about the band. So yes I am selecting the posts that suit my argument. But that's to show that the negative posts that you write - which are more frequent than the positives - are NOT constructive in any way.

I've already explained in other posts why I have those 3 opinions. I've backed all of that up. Am I not allowed to have a strong dislike for certain songs?

Also, who is the admin of this site, can someone please tell me? I haven't broken any rules. I haven't flamed anyone and I've been accepting of other people's opinions and I don't criticize them personally for having the opinions that they do. I don't have to explain myself to you anymore Liam. I already give explainations for all my opinions.

Eh, but consistently making negative posts about the band isn't going to win you many friends here, even if you've followed all the forum rules! :p

Woo! Things are getting a little heated!:( I think there is a place for "constructive" criticism- and that TVFan has not "attacked" anyone (other than Kevin, the band, post-Maroon, and us kiss-a** fans:rolleyes:)- but constructive and attacked are relative things, and maybe he feels a little attacked here? I don't think it is wrong to have dissenting or even somewhat negative opinions on things-but I do take exception to the "kiss-a**" thing. This is a BNL FANSITE, therefore it is patently ridiculous to not expect gushing, glowing, excruciatingly sappy, but heartfelt and sincere adoration for the band. If that is "kiss-a**", then I say to myself, "pucker up, buttercup!":)

I'm not sure that there actually is too much ass-kissing going on.

I, like many others, just happen to like Kev's singing/the more recent albums/whatever else, and I don't appreciate reading otherwise as if it's fact, not opinion. It's all opinion here, as you said, it's a fan-site.

I'm sure we can all take reading a little criticism of the band now and again, but the posts in question are rather inflammatory; hence why this discussion is happening at all. A few people have taken exception to the posts because they are written in a way that provokes a rather defensive response. Everyone else seems to get on alright, and not everyone else here is an 'ass-kisser'. Just look at the "least favourite songs" discussion. One of the most popular threads!

Most people here generally seem to like this band - that is why they are here. Without ass-kissing, sticking up for a band member/an album is probably more common than trashing it around these parts. Because it's a fan site - and a fan site of BNL in 2010, not 2000.

Yes, maybe we all feel a little raw and defensive. It has been a rocky few years for BNL fans, and even though things are moving forward- old wounds still flare up sometimes.:(

Ass-kissing, or whatever, it's good to have an opinion. Its always awesome when people can share what they want to, or how they feel about something, or how they appreciate it, or don't.

But the thing is, is it has to be worded properly. Especially when you're on a message board I think and you can't hear someone's tone of voice. Especially if some of those tend to be on the negative side a bit more then the positive side.
