Two artists grossed over half a BILLION in ticket sales in the 2000's. One buy charging a shitpot of money and one for never, ever stopping...

1. Dave Matthews Band
2. Celine Dion
3. Kenny Chesney
4. Springsteen
5. The Stones
6. U2
7. Madonna
8. The Eagles
9. Elton John
10. Buffett
11. Toby Keith
12. Cher
13. Elton John/Billy Joel
14. Bon Jovi
15. Metallica
16. Rascal Flatts
17. McCartney
18. NSYNC
19. Britney
20. Trans-Siberian Orchestra

If you combined Elton John's 2 places into one, he would have been #1.

I'm surprised Justin Timberlake isn't on the list. His tours are mega expensive ($500+ for "VIP" seats) and are always sold out. It's an interesting list though!

He was only slightly out of the top 20...I'd say the only reason he's not higher is that he sort of came into his own a little later in the decade.

And he because he doesn't tour that often.

But when he does... it's EPIC!

Seriously, it was the best show I've been to. He's a full out entertainer: sings, dances and plays instruments. It was a SHOW, not just a concert.

Should it count as a "tour" if you play at the same place over and over and over again? :D

Great point, Dave- several of the people on the list (Celine, Barbra, Elton) all were standing engagements. They didn't burn quite as many calendars as Dave Matthews.

I will say that the Billy Joel/Elton John tour, no matter how many times they do it and no matter how "same" it is from one show/tour to the next - it's awesome. :D
