I got the AIGT vinyl today. I was very excited. Only to find out one of my favorite tracks isn't on it for some strange reason. I Have Learned isn't there. Why would they cut that? It looks like there is enough room to fit it.

It's missing? Really? That's so strange. I wonder why they'd cut a song on it?

Especially since you said it seems like it would fit, that makes it even more odd. I'm just really curious now as to why it's not there.

Is it listed on the track list?

Nope. Side 1 ends with Ordinary, then side 2 starts with Every Subway Car.

Perhaps it's a manufactured "mistake." Stamp collectors pay extra for stamps with errors, perhaps they made the first run (press?) of the album have a mistake so you can get more money for it in the future. Perhaps you have the rare "Un-Learned " version that will go for big bucks later, like the Beatles record with the "butcher shop / babies" cover.

Ellen if the track list had it and it was just not pressed I would suspect an error...........but this seems very intentional for some odd reason. Anyone going to a show and staying after ought to ask the guys!

I feel like a moron-I just realized How Long isnt on it either. Way for them to cut two of the best tracks...

Hmm... that does seem very intentional. I'd love to know why they did that.

There are various formats of 33 1/3 LP and some have greater capacity than others. I have no idea, but perhaps the higher capacity formats have less fidelity and/or cost more to produce, and for a collector's item, they didn't want to spend for something that won't have a large production run. The full album is over 50 minutes, and would be just over 25 per side. That OUGHT to have been feasible... but perhaps more costly. I dunno.
Just a theory.

Now, this might show my age, but back when CDs were beginning to come out, they always had more tracks on them than vinyl and cassettes. Initially it was done to get people to purchase them so you "got more stuff". I'm wondering if they were feeling nostalgic and thought of that idea?
(I was in grade 5 when CDs were just coming out, and I bought the Michael Jackson "Bad" CD -- even though we didn't have a CD player in the house for another 3 years -- just to get the extra song on it.)
Maybe I shouldn't admit that...

I'm going to ahead and say that it was probably a time constraint thing so they picked the song they liked the least or thought the album would be best suited without to make the fit maybe.

You're making me feel old, the first CD's came out when I was in college. In fact, I bought a CD player a few months before the music department did and started my CD collection as strictly classical.
It's expanded a bit since that time ;)
