I voted for E2E. There is just something about that album that I love! It is my go-to when I need a pick-me-up!

As much as I like Gordon and BOAPS, I have to hand my title to Stunt. That's the album that got me into them in the first place.

Maroon. :D Too Little Too Late is just such an awesome song and Helicopters really strikes a chord in me. Not really sure why.

I'm always there for MYSD when it needs me... and it clearly needs me right now. First one to vote for it. LOL!

Gordon was an easy choice for me if I was forced to choose an album to bring with me on a deserted island... but I'd try and smuggle in the rest :)

It is always interesting to me to read these threads, as I could not name A favorite. I love all of them. Somedays I will reach for MYSD, somedays I will reach for Pirate Ship. It really depends on my mood. Most of the time I start the BNL playlist on my iPod which has them all in order and just play it until it has cycled through them all. I always listen to complete albums too. OK I am a music loving freak.

I chose Maroon as that's when I first started listening. But I have to say, Rock Spectacle is my favorite - if I had to choose just one studio album.

Maroon. It will always be my favourite album of all time. It was my first Barenaked Ladies album, and I have so many memories of my brother and I listening to it and thinking Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel was a hilarious song (I worry we were strange kids). It's a beautiful album, and when I met Ed, Kev, Ty and Jim this summer, I got them to sign it. And it's coming with me if I ever have the chance to see Steve live.

While I love Stunt & E2E, it's gotta be Gordon for me... it's what brought me to them, and I go back to the album all the time. Something about that opening of Hello City makes me warm inside. :)

My apologies for being unclear - meaning vs a concert recording.

Everything to Everyone.

Before that album, I was a fan of BNL. Listened to them a lot, listed them as one of my favorite bands, kind of wanted to get to a concert some time (not possible when attending a rural college without a car and not possible while living in deepest, darkest Africa).

Then I bought Everything to Everyone. And got kind of obsessed. So it wins.

I'm with you on this one, Weed. I'd say it was just in a very large studio.

It used to be Maroon, then Maybe You Should Drive, Now it's Barenaked Ladies Are Me/Men (I prefer the Men half, but it works as a double album too)

You know... A lot of people have been picking their first as their favorite... when I discovered BNL, BOAPS was not out just yet, so I bought MYSD (John already had Gordon). Hmmmm...

Boy, am I ever wishy-washy. I can't bring myself to choose! Gordon was my first album, but Maroon was the first show I wanted to go to (couldn't, though, I was too young to go alone and my parents didn't want to come). BLAM/BLA-men is so imcredibly different from their other stuff, but BOAPS has most of my favourite ballads. Both E2E and MYSD have my favourite ballads. Stunt has one of my favourite singles. BN For The Holidays is festive and creative. The tapes were their orinigal work, what sent them into stardom... So, I can't choose. Sorry!

What about Disc One? :p

I had to go with Gordon, overall a fantastic sound. Although, Are Me/Are Men, which I consider to be one double album, places just behind it overall. It is the Barenaked Ladies' "White Album".

What about Disc One? :p
Two reasons I didn't put that in:
1. It's not a studio album, it's a compilation.
2. You can only have 10 options in the poll, so I couldn't fit it.

Also, the first option also has an "Other" option, so you could pick that as Disc One.

Gotta go with Maroon here. While it's not my favourite collection of songs by the band, it is much greater than the sum of its parts. Up until Conventioneers, it flows fantastically and late in the album, there is a stretch of three of the band's best - Baby Seat, Off the Hook, Helicopters. There's a thread of pathos throughout the whole thing that I don't find on any other Ladies album. I relate to some of the angsty themes, but also relish the pop bliss of Too Little Too Late and Go Home. Steve gets most of the singing - I prefer his voice - but Ed shows up with two of his strongest songs. I also adore the slick, crunchy, hook-filled production. The best-rounded BNL album, I think, and it manages to cover every base of what they do so well.

Also my fav. album cover, but that's kind of an inconsequential praise. :p
