Yeah I saw this the other day (related videos for the Q interview with Jerry and Bob Casale of Devo).

I AM ED ROBERTSON, AND I AM THE IDOL OF GUITAR PLAYERS EVERYWHERE.

Awesome.

He's totally right in saying that your picking/strumming patterns are more important to get down rather than what you do on the fret board. I've tried playing this song dozens of times and have the basic chord structure down, but still have trouble palm-muting like THE IDOL OF GUITAR PLAYERS EVERYWHERE.

My guitar playing style is heavily influenced by Ed, just by learning BNL songs. I'm still not up to the level of THE IDOL, but I find myself doing similar things.

I don't play guitar, but I want to comment that if palm muting is the secret to playing this song, Ed's not giving that secret away! :D

That was my thought, too! Thought it's not much of a tutorial since he didn't actually show how to do anything with the right hand. (Note: I'm not a guitar player either, so maybe you have to be one and the mysteries are telepathically inferred or something.)

Perhaps I'll put something together later this month...

That video was really good. I've always loved his playing. Though he's humble about it. To me he's one of the best guitar players ever;)
