As far as I can tell, its not.

I downloaded them. Its likely I'll end up buying them anyways; hopefully iTunes puts them as a bundle of some sort.

Thank Keith, the Human Capo™

And yeah, I'm not a fan of the bonus track posting considering the post that they will all be available at some point... but I also understand that piracy is inevitable and if people want to get the tracks for free, people will get the tracks for free...

TheHYPO, yeah well I guess then it is ok to stand and watch a thief walk out of Best Buy with a big screen TV, because it they are gonna steal it they are gonna steal it. I suppose you don't lock the doors to your house or car and leave your laptop sitting on tables in public places while you go to class too huh?

I suggest you call up the ISPs of the people in this thread who have admitted to downloading them, obtaining their IP addresses and information, then alerting the RIAA of their infraction

Except a big screen TV costs a little more than $1.29 a track. People on this board will end up paying for bonus tracks when the band posts them in a month, anyway.

Thanks for sharing all these songs!

I will buy them whenever they are individually available.
But for now, I'm happy to be able to listen to them already.

If BNL would not have mentioned on their website, that the songs would be available to download individually after a certain time; I would have purchased the album from iTunes to get the two bonus tracks as well

I would not have been able to get Moonstone though, because the amazon mp3 album is only available to those in the USA and Canada.

It might not be 100 % ok to share this songs.
Though I think it is not THAT wrong either, because the guy puts only the songs up which are difficult to get. (some songs are not even possible to get at the moment, if you live in the wrong country)

I don't feel bad about downloading (I will buy them later).
;)

Barbara, who has already 3 copies of the album

- regular physical album (ordered from Switzerland b/c I wanted to get it as quick as possible, and I definitely wanted the physical album)
- download with 1 bonus track (for purchasing 3 tickets to the upcoming tour. I was not supposed to receive this copy, b/c I'm don't live in the US or Canada, but they accidentally sent me the code anyway)
- the fan package from amazon, physical album with t-shirt and 2 acoustic tracks

and I will get at least 2 more copies

- for the barenaked VIP ticket package
- for the LR membership

ETA: one more reason, why I think this is not THAT wrong; the guy is promoting the album big time.

All in Good Time is already available at least on the Canadian iTunes to purchase. Unless everyone already knew that information :(

On one hand you are absolutely right. this shouldnt be allowed to happen and it kinda sucks that this has happened .... but TheHYPO is also right. Piracy is inevitable.

No you wouldn't watch a thief walk out of a best buy with a TV, but on the other hand something like that is FAR easier to control. At this point in time piracy is something that cannot be controlled or monitored as easily. Unfortunately its going to happen no matter what and there isn't anything we can really do about it.

No you wouldn't watch a thief walk out of a best buy with a TV,

Um... unless I'm employed as a cop, or as a security guard for Best Buy, if a theif is walking out of Best Buy with a TV, I say pretty much the exact same thing - I'm not a fan of that guy stealing a TV from Best Buy... but I'm not going over there and tackling him. If someone who has an ownership interest wants actually go after someone for pirating the bonus tracks, they are welcome to; the purchaser of the itunes tracks is still listed in the info tags contained in the file, so that person is not hard for them to track down if they want to. If they don't want to go after the guy, it's not really my place to...

PS: A theif stealing a TV from Best Buy... somewhere around the world... some day of this century... is inevitable. Thousands of theives stealing one of almost every model of TV best buy makes on a daily basis is not inevitable.

Is it stealing to pull grapes off the vine at a grocery to test them and see if they are good? Yes (for whatever miniscule amount a grape costs). Is it still inevitable and I'm not going to change it from happening regularly on a global basis? Yes again.

On another topic altogether, The iTunes digital booklet for the album (to my amazement) contains lyrics and songwriting credit for All In Good Time - (bonus tracks almost never get printed into booklets). Sadly, She Turned Away doesn't make it into the booklet, but that said, If anyone has the Amazon version of the album I'd love a copy of the Amazon digital booklet... (and yes, even though it's not the music itself, I know It's still a file that comes as part of a purchasable package... ) I'm available via Private message if you don't feel like posting in this thread. I really don't think the guys would consider it piracy to send out the album art... but it's a personal opinion, I suppose.

Merci.

This conversation is getting familiarly ridiculous, but, I guess I'm just anti-semantics.

If you're listening to the bonus tracks or downloading them, but you're going to buy the tracks when they're ultimately released, I totally believe you. Especially if you frequently (not to mention any names) travel thousands of miles to see BNL and freak out the guy on the ship answering trivia questions with your almost bizarre level of BNL knowledge. You are NOT the person walking out of Best Buy with the TV, nor are you the person standing there watching them walk out (Hypo, wouldn't you at least point the guy out to security for Gosh sake???)

Having said that, I do think it's a bit uncomfortable to have a whole conversation on how to get these tracks for free on the official BNL message board.

Yes, I think this is the main point.

And to answer your other question, yes, I might, if there actually was security around. But I think that comes down the the difference between a TV and a song. Not many people tell their friends "I robbed best buy and stole this TV I'm watching" vs. "Yeah, I just downloaded the new Jimmy Johnson album. It's great." This speaks to the level of taboo involved in these crimes (note, however, that I believe still many countries in which file sharing is not a crime - not that that mitigates one's actions if it is in their country)

I have to say that while I am not usually a super Kev fan, his showing this album is fabulous. I really wish All In Good Time had made the album, but I am not sure which of his songs I would have cut.

I like Kev a lot but I cannot listen to Northern Light. It puts me to sleep literally. All In Good Time was much better even Let There Be Light was better.

I must be in the minority because I actually really like "Northern Light" - it has a very Colin Hay feel to it. "All in Good Time" should've been on though, replacing "Jerome."

Personally, I feel that illegally downloading hard to get bonus tracks from the internet should be punishable by death. Preferable methods: stoning, hanging and crucifixion.

Also, I'd cut I Have Learned for All In Good Time or Let There Be Light.

hmmmm, are these bonus tracks only available on itunes? I'm not willing to sign up for an itunes account just to get the tracks off there. I have never and probably will never buy something off itunes so if illegally downloading it is the only way, i'll take my chances. i've purchases every other cd of theirs and spend much on concerts to justify my downloading 1 or 2 song off the net.

Two of them were available if you pre-ordered on iTunes, and the other two were available if you pre-ordered on Amazon. I am not sure if any of them are currently available, but the band has promised that they will be available for everyone in the future.
