First off, for those who still haven't heard this song, check out the link below:

Reading the description on the right hand side, it says that the song "proved too difficult for him to record because he kept crying, so it did not make the album." Any truth to that? I know it's going to be a bonus track when you buy AIGT of off Amazon, but this was/is new news to me. I really wish it was on the regular album. This has to be one of Ed's prettiest and most personal songs, right up there with "When I Fall" and "Am I the Only One?"

Yes, there is truth to that. It's 100% true, actually. It is about Ed's mother passing away.

Well, there is some truth to it, as it is about his late mother, but I suppose not 100%, true, as the song did get recorded... it was not cut because he couldn't record it.

It may have been cut because he didn't want to answer questions about the difficult subject and sing the song all through the tour every night... or it may simply not have fit on the album in their opinion, vibewise.

Right, I knew that the song was about Ed's mother passing away. The part that surprised me was it was so personal, emotional for him that he could barely perform the song without crying. When I first heard it, I thought it was cut from the regular track-list because musically it sounds a bit like "Ordinary." I could also see how since it was so personal for him, he didn't want the attention given to the song in the same way as other tracks ("You Run Away"). Still, it's one of the best AIGT-era songs I've ever heard.

I find this song although difficult it's really one of his best. I think cutting it was bad but I guess the context of it would have shifted the album into a darker place. I'm really glad though it was difficult for him it was probably for the best that he let himself release those feelings.
