View Full Version : AIGT pre-order on Canadian iTunes w/ bonus tracks & "Every Subway Car" out now!
Looks like All In Good Time is now available to download on the Canadian iTunes store.
Strangely, "Every Subway Car" is available to buy now. Next single perhaps? Grab it while it's hot - $1.29!
Every pre-order gets a copy of the tune to buy now, although I think you can just buy it anyway if you wish.
The 2 bonus tracks are "All In Good Time" and "She Turned Away". (Damn, I was hoping for "Let There Be Light" and "Moonstone").
Go go go!!

When one song is released alone on iTunes, it is often called "Song - Single" for the album. I don't believe they are actually releasing the next single, literally the day after releasing the video for the last one. I don't see it now, but I'm pretty sure big bang theme was listed as "-single" when it was out. I think that's just the format itunes uses. All the American Idol songs that were released were tagged "- single". Michael Brennan was too.
I would guess this is just a release to stir up buzz and get the album presale noticed so people will buy that; I don't expect to see a radio single or video released for this song any time soon; That's just my guess, and I could be wrong, but two singles pre-album would be an unusual move.

I searched "barenaked ladies" and it came up with its song title.
I've seen multiple singles released before an album before (like, leading up to the album's release) - that wouldn't seem strange to me - but I do agree that it would be weird to release another single the day after the video for You Run Away comes out. I don't think it's the case.
I wonder what makes this worth almost $50:

Having heard 17 of the 18 songs live, and now with album samples, I'm prepared to rank the album into groups (it's pretty impossible for me to rank songs one quantitatively better than the other, but I can rank them into groups):
Top 5 (in no particular order; apparently I prefer the acoustic numbers):
Ordinary (might be the top song. The dynamics are awesome, Ed sounds awesome and the lyric is pretty whimsical too)
Moonstone (smooth groove, very smooth vocal and clearly heartfelt)
Love We're In (good harmonies, strong ballad. I didn't like this one at first, but it grew on me. Fun to play)
I Saw It (Definately Jim's best number on this collection. Love the chords, melody, and the apparent strings arrangement)
Four Seconds (Catchy little guy, this one)
The Second-Bests
Graffiti Love (like Chimps, I think this title will stick for me for a while)
Summertime (That riff stuck on me the first month after I heard it, and was the only song I remembered after the first show I heard it at; but I think that after 10 months, my brain is finally starting to get over it)
Let There Be Light (Not sure which of these Kev songs is better, but I'm sad that both of these were cut in favour of the two on my bottom 3. It's a bit Hannukah Blessingy [down to the "light" motif], but it's still sweet and catchy.
In Good Time (catchy riff that Ed restarted the song and forced Kevin to play after he skipped it during their first performance of it). It trods along a bit light on dynamics, and reminds me melodically of a few other Hearn tunes, but I still bop along with it and think it's a fun listen)
On The Lookout (Another catchy Jim tune; not quite up to I Saw It, but definately competitive. He performs the other better though, and this one doesn't stir as much of an emotional feeling in me)
The Not Too Bads
You Run Away (Like Summertime, this one was big for me early, but since I've heard it so many times since then, it's dropped below some of the other songs. It's weird how you just "hear" a song differently once it's made a single. At least I do).
Another Heartbreak (It's a little peppy and the lyric isn't as strong as the above two songs, but I still like this one)
How Long (A very unique sound from Ed, musically. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else had a co-write in this one, musically. I could be wrong though. Only thing that holds this one back for me is the lyric. Not a fan of short, one-line-repeat choruses. Good vibe though, and good performance live.)
Cut 4
I Have Learned (I don't dislike this one, but if an Ed song had to be cut, I think I'd have picked this one. I just don't get the feeling of authenticity from the hard rock. Not sure why. It has a really nice compact bridge, but I don't like the chorus lyric "I would love to live with giving this shakey voice some shade" - I don't get it)
Jerome (This just doesn't seem like the right genre for BNL)
Northern Lights (I'm too mellowed by this one. It's napable)
She Turned Away (Just not my cup of tea with this waltz. Feels like "Have You Seen My Love 2", and I didn't like that song)
Golden Boy hasn't been heard yet, but I get the feeling from what I've heard that it will definately be near the top. It seems like the songs I don't like on the album are genre-songs... I Have Learned doesn't wow me with its 80's style harder rock, She Turned Away's waltz is not my kind of song, Northern Lights is just too mellow a groove track, and Jerome is kind of... well it's completely perfect for the subject. It's like a western ghost town ballad style about a western ghost town. It's just doesn't fit on with the rest of the songs at all. I love Kevin and Jim's 5 other contributions a lot, and most of Ed's are solid. Kevin and Jim sound really great in their leads (from the previews) and have sounded good live on their songs, so I look forward to seeing the recordings, and hearing more of these songs live again.

I have to go to school in a few so I dont have time for a good long post like yours lol.
Top 5 (in no particular order):
I Have Learned
Love We're In
I Saw It
Another Heartbreak
Four Seconds
The Second-Bests:
Summertime
On The Lookout
Ordinary
Every Subway Car
How Long
Moonstone
Let There Be Light
She Turned Away
All In Good Time
The Not Too Bads:
Jerome
Golden Boy
Cut:
Only one I can think of would be "Watching The Northern Lights". Seems a bit to repetitive for me, then again I have not heard the full song.

For me, the only song out of the 18 that I could have seen cut was How Long. I like Jerome, and I especially loved the way it sounded in that video they posted on youtube with Kevin on banjo and Ed on acoustic guitar. The album version kind of reminds me of the demo version of "Sell, Sell, Sell". I Saw It definitely sounds like Jim's strongest, plus it reminds me of "Baby Seat". I was a little surprised by I Have Learned, as Tyler once described it as "southern-fried", and it doesn't sound all too southern rock to me, then again I'm not familiar with that genre. But overall, I think many of the songs are over produced. The song that suffers most from this is You Run Away. When they first played it at the cancer benefit in NYC, I thought it was pretty good, and I thought it would be played on acoustic guitar. Then as time went on, I was disappointed that Ed played it on electric, but it grew on me. The album version is just too polished and overproduced.

While I don't necessarily agree with you [though I did consider YRA to be very smooth and produced compared to some others], I think it's an interesting point. What I can say is that in the past, when they had a label, they had made comments like "it's been decided that Blah is our first single, so we have to go make it sound really good. We're doing a lot of work on it..." Perhaps now that they aren't on a label, they don't HAVE to do that, but it's probably ingrained in the mentality.
AnotherHeartbreak

I agree that YRA is just tad overproduced, from what I hear non of the rest are not. The only track I don't like a lot is Jerome. I loved the video on the bnlmusic youtube "Working out Jerome" because I like the slowness and mellowness of it, but this is not what I had expected.
If you haven't already, you can now hear "Every Subway Car" on the band's myspace page. Enjoy!

Good spot, Liam. If the bonus version actually contains all four bonus tracks, I will unquestionably buy one. That would be awesome. If it has any fewer than four, it becomes a much more interesting decision-making process.
The t-shirt adds relatively little to the mix for me, knowing that, (less relevantly) I have way too many t-shirts, and (more relevantly) the size of a shirt when bulk packaged like this is usually Large, which isn't for me.
I wonder if this will be available retail, or only via amazon. It's $26 Canadian on the Cdn store, so 24 US is a decent price on the US store, considering they claim it's a Canadian pressing, and thus an import. But I seriously wish they were coming out with a 5.1 version.

I've already pre-ordered the 14 song version on Amazon, plus my Ladies Room membership comes with a CD, though I'm not sure what edition. It would be nice if this version had all four bonus tracks, but no tracks are listed, so I'm not going to risk buying it yet. I wish that on some of this stuff (fan club, special edition CDs, etc.), that we could have the choice as to whether or not to get the t-shirt. I would much rather pay a lower price than receive a shirt that I won't wear. I'm also curious as to what the ordering would be for those four songs (i.e., the order that band would have liked an 18 song version of the album to be).

Amazon says "bonus tracks" - it doesn't say they aren't acoustic bonus tracks. However, Amazon says it's a "limited Canadian pressing"; pretty sure FYE is US and US only, so unless they have exclusive US rights (which amazon.com's listing would disagree with) to the same pressing, they ought to be different... but I don't put it past anyone these days to have misinformation

"This guys sucks at singing"..."This guy is now the strongest singer in the band"...it's ridiculous. How can that guy POSSIBLY think Summertime sounds like a Snacktime song? He's nuts.
