As a bit of a review, I love so many things about this song. I love the galloping drums and the twangy guitar riff (in the verses/intros), the backup vocal and bassy piano hits with bends in the pre-chorus, the energy in Ed's chorus vocal, and the breathy backup vocals in the post-chorus.
But what makes the song really awesome is how each of these parts is so different and the dynamics that work between them. From the sort of bouncy upbeat verses to the really serious and darker prechoruses back to the powerful upbeat chorus and right into the whisper quiet post-chorus. My only complaint is the lack of a bridge, and the double verse at the start of the song make it seem really short (in truth, it's over 4 minutes). I still feel like it should be longer when that final chorus arrives, though. Love the song.
Lyrics are up at rockitoldschool.com btw

Another excellent song to get me excited about the album! Hearing this studio version vs. youtube really highlights the guitar and vocal harmonies. The more I listen to bnl over the years the more I hear and appreciate Jim's vocals in the harmonies. In a youtube performance of this song, I think Kevin is playing the mandolin too.
The mini-review on the website is positive, but not as well thought out as yours Hypo :)

I will PS that the chorus of this song was probably one of, if not the best musical part of hearing most of the new songs live last year. Very powerful live.

Thanks Liam and Allan!
:)
It's one of my favorites too.
It was awesome to hear it live past June in Muskegon.
Thanks for posting! I haven't heard this song yet. It's great!

By far my new favorite Barenaked Ladies song. Ed sounds fantastic, and so do the backing vocals. I cannot stop playing it. Also, I did upload it to YouTube.

I had this song on repeat on the train on my way home....it took all I had not to sing along (out loud!) with the chorus. I love it!

For a split second sounds like the begining of 'Told You So'.....but it's only for a note or two. And besides I love that song!! :)

Loved it!!!!!!
No probs. :)
I do like the song. I think it's a grower, to be honest. Ed's vocals sound great and it's a catchy tune. Just not an immediate classic, to me - maybe that will come in time. I would love to hear it live, in person. :)
