Someone at AMNY is a fan- opened up the paper to do my crossword and there's a familiar picture next to the celebrity birthday announcements.

PS: I never really realized until just now while trying to come up with the name of a bassist that would be generally recognized that... there really aren't any! Poor bass players. A list of "famous bass players" was practically a "who's who" of names I've never heard before... though now that I think about it, I came up with a few - Paul McCartney, John Entwhistle, Adam Clayton... but there is actually quite a short list compared to guitarists. Now I know why I never took up bass. Poor guys.

Les Claypool ... Bobby Dall of Poison. (I just threw that one in there to make you laugh. His basslines are a joke) ;)
Happy Birthday, Jimmy C!

As a poor bass player, I will gladly accept sympathy from anyone. Jim C. and Paul McCartney are my two major influences, so I'd like to say that through them I was inspired to convert to bass a few years ago in their honor. Truth is actually that I'm the lead singer and needed to play something and the other two guitarists in our band are off the charts good. So I ended up like that dorky guy in the first grade band that ends up playing the triangle in the school concerts. It's what was left.
Others I like are Sting, Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads, and of course the mightiest of all bass players, Mr. Geddy Lee.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!
As a fellow bass player, I have to say, you have always been a stand up guy! (heh heh)

Happy Birthday Jim!
Hey, maybe he's the secret last torch bearer! It's appropriate, he's in great shape, he's got flame colored hair and is tall and slender like the torch and he's a Canadian icon. Bass players deserve love too!

And can you name this outstanding bass player?
He's Welsh/Italian...
He toured with The Royal Family...
He made fretless bass the bass style of the 1980s...
He often plays with John Mayer...
And he just played at the Super Bowl!
No?! The answer is here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pino_Palladino)

Happy belated birthday to Jim. I was going to try and do something clever, but I am in a fog of congestion and covered w/ a mountain of tissues. He shares his special day w/ Abraham LIncoln, Arsenio Hall whoop whoop whoop, Ray Manzarek, and Lorne Greene. Many happy returns!!!:)
