Someone apparently made reference to being informed AFTER they bought GA tickets that they were subsequently told they had numbered seats. Can anyone confirm this? I have not received any notice, so I'm curious if I need to call someone. Thanks.

I can now reply to my own thread, having discovered a note downstairs saying I got a phone call from Artist Arena when I was out last night. After calling back, I've been informed that the Oshawa show, while listed as GA (it seems) is not quite so. From what I was told, there ARE seats at the venue (not standing GA) and VIPs will be in the first row (he said row, but I assume if more people buy than fit in one row, it will be first "rows"), and tickets will be assigned based on the timestamp of the order. He didn't indicate that barenakeds and nakeds would be separate, and he didn't tell me what will happen to regular-ticket buyers (I'm not sure if GA came up for regular tickets as well).

The call was just informatory, btw - even if you missed or didn't get called, this should be the same info, but if you have any questions about the Oshawa show, I suspect the best person to call is Mike at 212-420-8500

That's the same info. I got. Mike even said 'front row' to me as well. Told me the front row, seats 1-10 were for VIP, making me think there is a limited number they are selling. But your right, it's not clarified if those seats are Barenaked exclusively or Barenaked/Naked mixed. We purchased Barenaked for both Montreal and Oshawa.

I actually thought it was nice of Mike to call when the GA thing was brought to his attention by another Roomer. When I asked about how we discover our seat numbers, he said they'll be issued according to the order the purchase was made. Which seems in general, the same thing he told you. We don't have time stamps on our actual receipt, BUT the e-mail confirmation was received almost immediately after finalizing the purchase, and that shows as being received at 9:04:35am PST. If you want to compare seats once we each receive our tix, you know, along the same vein of information being compared and shared, I'd be happy to do that.

You seem like you're really making an effort to alert other fans of what they may experience for future tour dates, and what surprises or hick-ups they may encounter, so I thought I'd let you know I had heard basically the same thing you did from the same source. Cheers!

My email came at 12:10 (eastern), because thinking it was GA, I focused on hamilton and left these til later. I don't know about the 1-10 thing (unless he was saying your seats are 1-10 (row 1 seat 10, which is how it displays on their site), because a friend of mine just bought a ticket (VIP) today and got seat 22 or something. I don't think they sold another 12 seats AFTER discovering this and alloting 1-10 to those of use who bought early. But that's just my guess. Perhaps he was talking about saving ROWS 1-10, which was brought up earlier.

Either way, I know that today someone bought and got tickets in the low 20s (of row 1) and it SEEMS like there are around 30-35 tickets in a row, so hopefully, having a timestamp later than the opening rush will put me around the middle of the row.

Ah yes, funny things happen when you find out a show isn't really GA.
And then you find out good packages are still available. :)
Suddenly you are seeing a show in Oshawa :D

How far is Oshawa from Montreal - we Californians may do something wild and crazy and head that way!

It's a 4-6 hour drive, depending on your driving, but I'd peg it at 5-5.5 hrs. I'm from Oshawa, and it's considered nothing to zip to Montreal. And absolutely, if you're coming all the way from California, I would see no reason not to take advantage of it and do it.

Hamilton is much closer though - probably less than 2 hrs, but in the opposite direction (so 2 hrs further away from Montreal). If you want to optimize for location, pair up Hamilton and Oshawa. If you want to optimize for which city to spend time in, go to Montreal. If you're that wild and crazy, do all 3!! More than enough time to get from city to city. ;)

Just a thought for those of you considering pairing up Oshawa and Montreal: first class in the VIA train between the two cities is quite nice. If you book early enough in advance, first class tickets are maybe $120 CAD (each way) and you get a typical first class airplaine/train meal and free alcohol the entire trip. That route has wifi (an extra $10 or so) on the train. It's not necessarily a budget option, but we do know people who take it with the intention of drinking back their fare. It *is* unlimited drinks. The service is actually really good and it's much more comfortable than a plane with zero security hassle. If you go in a group, you can call and request the back seats that are a 4-some with a table between them. (It's usually seats 49, 50 and 53, 54.) A very nice way to pass the time.

We always take the train when we go to Montreal from Oshawa or Toronto. (Of course, we don't drive. If you do have a car, it's an easy trip.)

Wow, Sarah! Thanks for the tips! We were going to drive btwn Montreal and Oshawa, but it's nice to have another option. Also, great to hear Hamilton isn't that far, we may add that! We're also coming from Cali, so we'd like to make the most of the trip. Your help is greatly appreciated. Cheers!
