How many have pre-ordered it ? I've listened to most of it from the CBC site, and I will be snagging a copy.

I plan to get it at one of his shows, simply because I prefer not to pay the shipping.

I'll be honest, at first, I had no desire to hear Steve sing a bunch of cover tunes, but when I heard about the concept and the Art of Time Ensemble, I got very excited. Can't wait to hear people like Leonard Cohen and Radiohead re-interpreted by this group.

I wonder if there'll be an answer song to "You Run Away" ?

I wasn't that interested, but I heard two of the sample arrangements and promptly bought it.
(However, I'm a little afraid I might find it entertaining, when, you know, this is art.)

I will buy it esp. for his rendition of Paranoid Android. Looking forward to hearing the complete songs, instead of just the snippets. ;)

Wasn't the concert just last year ? Not long after Steven left the band ?

No, Shell, the shows were June, 2008.

I think there may have been more shows after Steve left. But the one I went to was before. Happened to be in Toronto the right weekend. And happened to get a front-row, center ticket. Ah, happy coincidence... :D

Steve played with the AOTE two summers ago as a Songbook show featuring only himself, in which he sung covers of his favourite songs as arranged for AOT by a bunch of other arrangers. That is the source of the music for this album (as recorded in studio last year), and presumably what he will be playing during the upcoming tour. Whereas this past summer, he (along with Kevin, and a few other vocalists) combined to do a similar thing with the Beatles Abbey Road, again arranged for AOT in unique ways by a bunch of other arrangers. The first couple of songs were solos, then after intermission, the singers grouped together, wandering on and offstage as the "medley" from the back side of the disc was played. It was really quite enjoyable and cool. His Songbook show was quite enjoyable and interesting as well, and I expect this album to be. One of the things they did during his songbook was a 10 minute violin and piano duet (not involving Steve - I want to say it was written by Prokofiev? I'm not positive), which I guess was intended to garner interest in the Art of Time's other shows. I enjoy classical music, but that piece stretched on and on and on at the end of the first act, which really wore me out. I would have been extra happy not to have had that in the show. I hope they don't do something like that on this tour ;)

That piece went on forever... I kept looking at my watch and couldn't wait for it to end. :D

Ordered it. Got it. Listening to it now. Comparing it to a bootleg album from November 2008, which is live. Like both. Love Steve.
