denim jacket cleaning ?

My denim jacket has cleaning instructions that state that it should not be washed or dry cleaned, so I am wondering, how does one clean a denim jacket ?

I was thinking of dousing it with Febreze.

I don't think I have ever encounter denim that was not washable. I would probably throw in the washer (don't put anything light colored in with it) and then maybe hang to dry.
