So this topic isn't getting much attention.
Things are bad. Like, really bad. You probably know that if you watch the news at all or read CNN or whatever. Bodies are being moved from the streets now by scooping them up with heavy machinery and dumping them in cargo containers. And there's just where they're lucky enough to HAVE heavy machinery. Everywhere else, bodies are starting to burst on the streets. There is still no water, no food, no electricity. There is one operating hospital, and it still doesn't have water or electricity. They're performing necessary surgeries outside. CNN reported that they've done amputations and even a C-section outside because it's better than inside the hospital where there's not as much light.
The one silver lining in this whole thing is that people are donating SO MUCH. Donating through text message has exploded, and in two days, the Red Cross and other foundations have collected $10 MILLION dollars. Just from $10 texts.
"Jim Manis, CEO of the foundation helping to manage cellphone donations, said it was receiving up to 10,000 text messages per second, he said. The foundation said more than $10 million has been donated."
Holy shit, that's amazing. To donate by text: Cellphone users can donate $5 to Haiti-born hip-hop musician Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund by texting the word "Yele" to 501501, or they can donate $10 to other nonprofit organizations, such as the American Red Cross, by texting the word "Haiti" to a specified number, like 90999.
Another organization that's instrumental now and in the future for Haiti is Medicines san Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders). To donate: https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org
C'mon guys, we're an awesome bunch. I bet we could pull together a decent amount of money! I'll be donating to MSF.

I have already donated, but thanks for putting out some of the legitimate sites.
I was listening to a news story about the millions they think con artists are taking with fake sites etc, and it makes me naseous.
