I don't know about you, but sometimes there's just one line or verse of a song that makes me think... so here's a place to write it out, without Facebook/Twitter people thinking you're being emo or something lol.

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

(If I Were A Boy, by Beyonce)

If she were a boy, she would actually know how it feels to love a girl and, no, she wouldn't swear to be a better man (having not had an alternative experience to compare it to), she'd just be a man, and so get on with doing manly things, which, according to this song, is one big round of living it up and letting down women - which, unfortunately for me perhaps, is not my experience at all. I'd strongly object to this song's lack of logic and sexist assumptions, but wait... I think I'm thinking too much. ;)

I had a dream that my house was on fire
People laughed while it burned
I tried to run but my legs were numb
I had to wait til the feeling returned

(Til I Am Myself Again Blue Rodeo)

If I posted this as my Facebook status or Twitter update, people would question my sanity!

You make the moon a mirrorball,
The streets an empty stage,
The city's sirens violins,
Everything has changed...

This one got me through a rough time with my family when I was 19 and changing direction in school.

I don't need you to worry for me cause I'm alright
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home
I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone (Billy Joel)

It came on the radio and one of my sisters told my mom it was my theme song right now. After that, both parents backed off.

This one was also helpful around the same time:

There are so many paths up the mountain, nobody knows all the ways, there are so many paths up the mountain, and the view from the top is still the same.

If you should stumble and fall down, people don't know what to do, pretend that they didn't notice, they'll sidestep and walk around you, don't let it be your worry, no, no don't let it get you concerned, you've got to move on in your own direction, forget what you ever learned. (Little River Band)
