TORONTO — The time is apparently now for the Barenaked Ladies.
The Toronto pop band has announced that "All in Good Time," their 11th studio album -- and first without founding member Steven Page -- will be released on March 23.
First single "You Run Away" will hit radio this month.
Page, meanwhile, has been busy since leaving the band in February.
His album with the Art of Time Ensemble, titled "A Singer Must Die," hits stores on Feb. 16 with a 12-date tour following on Feb. 24.
A Page solo album is to be released later this year.

Thx Liam!
One week more to wait than expected (03/16)... But I´ve waited that long, another week won´t be that much of a problem.
And "You Run Away" as the first single: good idea. A very powerful song, very intense, and a song "with a history" that´ll be quoted in each and every interview or DJ-intro, therefore adding more publicity.
And diverting the focus of the non-fans from BNL as a novelty band onto the song-craftmanship...
I can't wait. :)
I haven't decided what I think about "You Run Away" being the first single yet. I really like the song, I think it is wonderful - probably even up there with "When I Fall" in time. But to choose it as a single makes me think that it will just provoke more reaction to Steve's departure, which I kinda hoped the band would avoid. New era and all that. I don't know - maybe I will change my mind. Either way, I love the song, can't wait for the album and hope to see them live again very soon!
Pssst... they've signed to EMI.

What exactly does that signing mean?
Rather, what do you think? Is it a sign for a new approach to gain popularity on markets they are not that familiar on yet ? (aka non-UK Europe ;))
Perhaps this deal will make it possible for me, to get the CD in a store nearby close to the release date actually, didn't work out with the past 3 Albums here in Germany ;)

What bothers me more than the fact they signed to EMI:
which release-date will it be?!?! March 23rd, as mentioned in the CTV-article, or march 30th, as posted on the EMI site?!?!
AAAAAARGH! Another week more?!?!

Mike, I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps it will be different digitally and physically.

Given their latest tweet, I wouldn´t bet my money on 03/23rd. Seems the planned release-date (03/16) got delayed in two steps of a week each...
Or the 23rd-date is the release-date for radio stations. Wait and see...

My guess is:
3/23 = North America
3/30 = Worldwide
Don't worry, if available we'll all order in advance anyways ;)
I want to get physical.
Oh my, Philip! ;)
Physical barenakedness...
I know I'll end up downloading it off iTunes or some place, and also buying the CD. I have about 4 different versions of BLAM, why stop now? lol

There was an Olivia Newton John reference there - but I'd guess you'd be too young to spot it!

editGary, you beat me to it...
And, Lacey: then there is allways the slight chance you could have seen them live... the two new songs they played in their shows in Fresno and Primm were "Four Seconds" and "You Run Away"

I just sent a request/suggestion to my local BNL-friendly radio station (100.5 The Drive). As fellow Rochesterian Marie has stated, they told her that they mostly play the older stuff (the most recent they play is Pinch Me) because that's what people request all the time... so... it's time to request new stuff! *thumbs up*

The so-called "alternative" station in Phoenix, which used to be called The Edge (stolen from what they used to call CFNY-FM back in the Brampton days) won't play any BNL. I requested a song a few weeks back, but the deejay told me that they didn't have any BNL. They had no ERASURE, either.

Oh my god Im so excited! Have this marked on my calender and eveyrthing! God PLEASE let the single be released soon!
Slightly confused re: the conflicting articles release dates, but I guess the story from the official BNL site is the one to trust - straight from the horses mouth, so to speak! :)

I'm glad to know the date, and I really REALLY am looking forward to hearing the whole CD. And while I do love "You Run Away," it makes me sad, the kind of reflective sad that brings tears. *sigh*

They've signed to EMI, so I'm thinking they had more of an influence on which songs were deemed as being the single. Big labels have more pull on stuff like that, but I'd hope that the band members might have had a proviso in their contract stating that they have more control over this kind of thing....one can only speculate until we're able to approach the band members face to face in an atmosphere such as the cruise or something like it.

I know next to nothing about record labels, but the way I read something was that they signed EMI to distribute the record. I took that to mean just that and really nothing else to do with the band.
Am I way off base?

They signed up with EMI Label Services http://carolinedist.com/
"With EMI Label Services, artists and labels have the ability to secure turn-key global distribution deals, while having the potential to secure marketing support for the right artist at the right time through EMI's "A-team" of promotion, publicity, online marketing, synch & licensing, brand sponsorship, new channel development and more."
So just based on that, it sounds like they offer distribution, and may also offer the band other services, but without knowing from the band what they have asked EMI to do for them, there's no way to know. The band also has a new management company, so it's a lot harder to compare what they were doing under Nettwerk to now and say "that's new - it must be EMI", because their new mangement will likely do different things than in the past as well.

There's an unfortunate reference by one of the hosts to Ed's Mom at 2:20 in the interview. There's also a reference to a certain well-known fan's undergarments at 4:43. ;)

(yes, that comment is not very sensitive, but of course she did not know that Ed's mom died recently. my mother passed away when I was 14 and I had to bear lots of comments like that. people should NOT just expect, that everybody has parents who are still alive.)
