I was on Ships and Dip V. A great week - my first and only (so far) visit to the States. Had an amazing time with some great people.

I want to be a Quadruple Dipper!

Looooots of us here. :D

I was on all three... hopefully we can be quadippers at some point in the future. :D That said, I am thankful for the break, as I just bought a house in May, and trying to afford both at the same time (so many things to buy when you move into your first real house! UGH!) would have been utterly impossible!

Maybe we'll be on # 7, if there is one.

Triple dipper here. And I'm soooooooooo missing that pre-cruise excitement at this time of year, freezing my ass off and dreaming about someplace tropical.

I don't handle the cold well. :D

Of course I'm looking forward to new music and shows this year, but I'm crossing my fingers for a cruise - or something! - in 2011. Who knows?

Triple dipper as well, and also somewhat glad there isn't one this year as we're planning a wedding and buying a house. I understand those things can be a bit costly. ;)

I'm a Triple dipper, Triple stripper too. While I'm not "glad" there isn't a ships and Dip cruise this year, but I have had a cRaZy month. I don't know if I would have the energy for a 3rd vacation this month. Hopefully there will be a Ships and Dip VII next year.

I only made it on V. We met a lot of great people on that boat. Hope they do another one, but they wait until I saved up enough to go.

I hope they call the next one Ships and Dip IV. Get it, four? Four members in the band?
Thank you, thank you... I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

Triple dipper, double stripper here. I was in a wheelchair/crutches on the first cruise and didn't feel like dealing with the stripping thing.

Financially I was happy to miss a cruise this year, but emotionally I'm very sad.

Triple Dipper, Single Stripper here.

I feel the same Melissa - financially it just dosen't seem prudent, but I am SO SAD. It didn't hit me until I took the Christmas decorations down and realized that I was not going to drag my suitcase up to start packing for the trip. And then I made the mistake of reading the RB message board.

I myself went on the Ships and Dip cruises, with my lovely wife Mrs. Rulez, and on V, Gracie Rulez and Momma Rulez as well.

So many amazing memories, and I'm definitely go into full melancholy in the next few weeks here, realizing that 2010 starts fully landlocked.

Oh, and I was on Char's awesome dive trip, too, and met some amazing people. Char, thanks again for doing that, and I hope we get to do it again!

Tripple dipper, tripple stripper, worked my way to front row where I usually reside, blocking peoples view.

While Iīm not glad that there is no S&D VII, my bank account is. Because itīs still recovering from my trip to see the Ladies in Fresno & Primm. Which I probably wouldnīt have done if there would have been a slight chance for a cruise instead...

Time (and my bank account) will tell, if thereīs a chance for a 'cruise' through the USofA and possibly Canada to follow the trail of BNL concerts... but chances are somewhat thin. Le sigh...

Gotta start saving for next years possible cruise... or BNLīs tour through Europe!

Very sad there isn't a cruise this year, but I'd be even sadder that I wasn't on it, since I just had a baby 5 days ago. ;)

swiss you don't get motion sickness on a train? Did you have trouble on the ship? I used to suffer from motion sickness in a car, but not so bad anymore. I think that depends: I'd like to catch as many UK-gigs as possible (including Scotland), and then continue on the continent. Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Cologne - whereever their journey will lead me. As many german gigs as possible is a must. The rest we'll see...

Trains is never a problem only cars and buses.

I was very worried about getting seasick on the first S&D cruise.
But to my surprise I did not get seasick once during all of the 3 cruises.
And I did not even take any medication or motion-wristband.

It makes no sense to me but I guess it's really just cars and buses that I have a problem with.
Maybe it's because I can nor really walk around in a car or on a bus.

All true, but the letdown after the holidays with no BNL coupled with the fact that I think I have that weird seasonal "blues" thing just blows. GRAY GRAY GRAY for days on end.
On the upside, my whining is paying off since my husband has promised a BNL trip when they hit the road - wherever I want :p in an effort to get me to SHUT UP.:D

swiss that is very interesting. I have never been motion sick on a bus, but the back seat of a car.........used to be instant sickness. A helicopter while it is hovering is horrible as well. It is funny because I arrived for Ships and Dip with an arsenal of all types of motion sickness cures, and never had to use one of them. I gave them to lots of my friends that had a hell of a time with motion sickness. I figured my pounds of bracelets, ginger, drugs etc. had scared the motion sickness, so I brought as much on each of the other cruises as well. I had a tinge of the queasies on time...........I was packing to go home and I bent way over and the ship pitched and I was like.......whoooa. I immediately went up on deck took a chair and stared directly in front of the ship and it went away. It really is a very strange thing.

My partner Thales and I were on all three. She's a triple stripper, but for me, just double ... took a year to feel the heat, so to speak.

I know money is tight, especially with some new....things ....Thales and I have coming up this year. But, man, a chance to do more diving (dived all three years) and feel some heat (if there IS any - cue last year's trip to Key West) would be so amazing.

I feel so incredibly lucky that I got the chance to meet so many wonderful, amazing people. It also gave me a chance to reconnect with people I'd not seen for some time, it was terrific.

Acid Wish was such a highlight, so fun - and to see the Odds again together was certainly something I cherish and won't forget.

And Sloan .... whoa. Sloan. Jay Coyle is now working with them to help them out in the States, and the last mini tour was terrific, not only because they were there, but Jay traveled on the bus in the States with them.

I miss those ships, and can only hope that as time passes, we all get the chance again to sail with the Ladies.

That was the dive that made me vow to NEVER do a cruiseline dive again. The day before I'd dived on a private charter, and I dived a private charter in Cozumel ... it was awful. The boat was a cattleboat, the exhaust was sickening, not to mention way too many divers, dead coral, and a chop to make a dolphin sick.

I got to hang with a terrific chic, Aussie Katie - that was my shining star that day!

thales, I asked you in PM but perhaps you can tell me here, how can you tell if the reputation reports you see under User CP is positive or negative?

thales
01-06-2010, 09:12 PM
If the icon by the rep isn't lit up at all, it didn't count because the person giving you the point didn't actually have the ability to make the rep at that point.

If it's green you got a positive point.

If it's red you got a negative point.

Im a triple dipper!

When I had to do my vacation bidding in November for 2010, I had no clue what week to pick. Ever since I have gone back to work, I have had SND to dictate what week to take off in the winter. I was so lost. Been melancholy about no cruise since. We were going to take a regular cruise and realized that would never work for us.

I think it was wise for them to take this year off and regroup. Fully support that.

When..and I say when...not if...the cruise for 2011 comes along...we will be booked and I will be bringing two other couples with us. We might not need a bigger boat, but we will need a boat!

Making plans for a 2011 Cruise would take too much time from album/tour plans.

Not that I would ever miss a cruise, but if there were a good year to skip, it was this one. We're in India right now, so the weather isn't making me pine for the tropics. And, this is NOT the time to be flying from the US into Canada! As it is, we're planning to take the train from Toronto to Philadelphia next month because, believe it or not, it seems to be the more sane/humane choice right about now.

Unless Sam were up for a major road trip, I don't want to think about how inconvenient it would be trying to get to Florida this year!

I feel I must confess. I have never been on a S&D cruise. :'( I don't see how it would have been possible for me to go on one seeing as how I just became an uber huge fan and discovered BnL as of April 09. Every time I think about it, how I missed everything basically I just feel like kicking myself. :( I intend to remedy that in the new year though...new album, new lineup, new fan, I'm seeing some possibilities here....

Well, there are some advantages to coming late to the party. There are a lot of Dippers who can now take you under their wings... unlike the first year where so many of us didn't even go to the message board party or didn't know a lot of people there.

We had more fun each year as we had more people to hang out with, so it can only get better!

Tripple Dipper here. I have to admit I don't miss the stress of booking, but I am really having BNL (and Guster) withdrawals. I booked a cruise last night and our first stop is Grand Cayman. I'll get to relive memories while I'm there.

Congrats to all of you getting married, having babies, and buying houses!

did any of you go to the superbowl party??????? that was some crazy fun!!!!

Double dipper here. We went on III and V (me, my hubby Butch, and our best friends Lisa and Rod. We were at the SuperBowl party...my hubby actually missed the SailAway show to be sure he had the "right" seat for the SuperBowl...he's a diehard Steeler fan so he loved it. Lisa, Rod and I didn't join him until the SailAway show ended. I wanted to make it to the message board party and never left the SuperBowl. We sat at a table in the back row (in front of the bar) on the left/middle side.

I am so sad that we don't have a cruise this year, but definitely planning to go on the next one...and I definitely believe there will be a next one!

Hi Leslie....you know what I think I figured out?? I think that your room on V was next to ours and we never even talked to each other.

That's why you need an awesome dry erase board on your door. Anyone that wants can leave you some love. :)

I'm having a relapse of "boat dumb" minus the crashing into walls symptom. Although I wouldn't have had the money to cruise, I'm really missing the excitement of seeing great friends and having an awesome week.

For those who haven't been, it's a truly surreal experience. Walking in on the whole Creeggan Family eating dinner, but no security/sixthman people were there to tell you not to go into that part of the ship. Or packing 5 people into a cabin.

Yes, we were neighbors. However we were rarely in the room.

We were rarely in our room either...too much to do to spend time in the room....but...we sure did enjoy the balcony when we were there. Lisa & Rod were next to us so we opened the dividers and had a bigger balcony...it was great!

we were in the cabin to sleep and shower and change and that's about it.......one afternoon lunch after scuba diving and my hubby golfing but what's the point of being in your cabin when you have the most awesome entertainment going on all around you at all hours of the day and night......did anyone catch the allstar jam cruising back in to Miami???? Ed hopping around with the hand sanitizer in the crowd??????

We were on III and V.

I actually had my 40th birthday ON naked day for V. Got to moon Cuba as we went by.

Definitely miss the cruise and friendships, oh, and the band.

I'm bored and don't know what to do for my 41st birthday (although I don't think much else could have topped my 40th!)...

So close to Vancouver yet so far away (well, technically, not since I'm in the other Vancouver, lol). At least there's the new album and tour to look forward to!

As another gray winter day passes I miss the excitement from this time last year when I was planning what to pack. I hope that in 2011 I have some planning to do for the next Cruisssssahh :)

For as long as the tour lasts, I guess. I sure want to catch a Scotland show! :)

Would you accept a couple of Yanks along for the ride? We'll bring along more of those American snacks that were requested on the cruise! We're celebrating our 10 year anni this year and have decided that following BNL around Europe would be more fun than another trip to Hawaii. We'd definitely love to see the Ladies in Scotland, England and Amsterdam. We thought 10 shows would be appropriate. Barbara I met years ago at a Los Angeles show when 2 rude bimbos were trying to wrangle their way into her assigned seat and I tried to get Security to remove them. I saw her again on SND3 in that funky Black/Red lounge, but there was some funny drama going on and I was too shy to say, "I remember you!" Liam I met on SND5 - he likes marshmallows! And I was cheering on the tall German at Primm and yelling at the people sitting behind them to stand up and quit being so pissy. Sascha, I don't know you, but I'll bring you sweets and fight for you! So, whaddya say, sophisticated Europeans? I can drive and speak in ever increasing loud American English that I don't understand when we get pulled over. Wouldn't that be a hoot?!

I was on all three cruises and hope there is another one next year and that I ca afford to go on it. The first one, I went on for my wife and we took our kids because we couldn't find a sitter. I had fun so when the second one came around I wanted to go again and this time without the kids because we missed so much the first time. Unfortunately I got sick at the end of the second cruise and missed the big BNL show. The third cruise we went again and this time not only for the bands but for all the people we had met. It was a blast, and this time I was healthy and no kids so had way more fun. We do spend time in our room just so we don't get completely burnt out but also try not to miss anything that we really want to see. I think we got it down to planning out the day's ahead of time so we aren't rushing everywhere but still get to see everyone and everything we want to.

To connect with a possible UK bnl road trip try the bnl UK board, http://board.bnluk.net/index.php, where you'll find Liam and many other British and European bnl fans.

I don't want to sound like the grammar police, Michelle, but I think you mean "was on me". It's a prepositional phrase, so it's "me", not "I".

Triple Dipper, Tripe Stripper here. I was only slightly missing the cruise as we have had a lot going on in the past month. Now as I sit at work the morning after seeing the band for the first time since S&D V, and one year to the day since we docked back in Miami, I am really missing the cruise.

Hopefully we all get a chance to do it again, I would even welcome the Summer Camp idea. One of our good friends that we met on S&D I was so seasick last year she missed half of the cruise. I am also very excited about the new music.

Looking forward to Great Big Sean and Gaelic Storm next month at House of Blues in Chicago.

Triple-Triples here.

Dave and I had SO much fun on all 3 cruises but we need to save up for a trip to Japan in 2011. Our daughter will be studying abroad next year and we have promised to visit her while she's there. So....if they do a cruise next year we will have to bow out. :(

*sigh* I'm not sure how we're going to afford HER airfare, let alone ours, but we'll make it work somehow.

My Dad has been several times - was on duty there when I was born... tis very expensive 've been told - but fabulous to visit.

Skipper stripper here. I missed S&D III for Hawaii, so I'm in rhythm for the every other year thing, assuming there is a S&D VII next year.

Used to rep on the S&D board on behalf of my family, but since my band's CD is coming out in a few weeks, I've changed my persona to be all about that. (I feel like a proud papa... of a CD that is.)

Good to see a lot of the familiar faces (er.... ID's) on the board. It wouldn't be winter without some BNL posting...

Another III and V here.. I'm so there for VII its unreal.. This winter has been a real drag with no sunshine (and waaay too much snow for SE England).. I'm so looking forward to an Autumn (sorry Fall..) UK tour followed by another cruise.... :D

The announcement was so unexpected too, I'd talked myself into 2012 at the earliest..
